6th November, Feedback on Pop-Up Shop and Typography Q&A

6th November, Feedback on Pop-Up Shop and Typography Q&A

The feedback I received from the feedback session on the pop-up shop really helped me understand what steps I now need to take and how I can move my project forward. I am now thinking of new ideas to explore and incorporate into my research.

Across my work I need to develop a theme that I will use across the design pieces. This theme will be simple and straight forward, this creates a solid branding point that will entice potential customers. I will use B&W across the different products which creates a simple contrast.

My 3D printing idea needs to link more to the brand of New Balance, my initial idea is that I will create a new balance shoe that will be the model of the Pop-Up shop. I have seen images of an Adidas campaign where the pop-up shop was a shoe box. I would like to incorporate this idea by making the New Balance Pop-Up shop a giant new balance shoe. This could be in celebration of the launch of a new shoe. This relates to the brand of New Balance as they are a massive footwear retailer and designer. The “N” of the New Balance shoe could be made of glass, this would let the light shine into the store in the shape of the New Balance logo! This would give a very effective and unique look.

Main Points taken from discussion

-       - advertisement is a good idea, creation of an effective message is key
-       - Visual ideas needed, theme is needed
-       - Mind maps could be created
-       - Look at the values that the brand pushes
-       - Develop something that could carry across the different products! (this could be the promotion of New Balance shoes)
-       - Could base around branding for shoes, or a discount on shoes

New balance has a very unique shoe look T shirt could display this shoe style with simple black outlines on white. This simple look will stand out to customers who are passing by and will also allow the staff members to make contact with the New Balance customers out there!

The stencil that I am going to produce could show footprints to advertise shoe discount. This will also be eye catching to passers buy as a footprint will stand out on city streets and surfaces. This would be a great way to attract audiences through promotions.

Critique of the Type Society assignment

The feedback I have received from the critique has really helped me understand at what point I am at and where and how I need to move forward. I now know that I need to start developing designs that can reflect the fonts I have researched and how they display their emotive. Below I have shown the feedback received from my classmates and how they think I should improve my work further.

I need to develop a strong design to use throughout my work. This will help display the information consistently whilst being attractive to look at. The booklet is all about user experience and how they enjoy taking in my piece of work.
