Cheque and Jaapokki Research

Cheque Input Text and Research

The Cheque typeface is made by designer Mirela Belova, this font was developed as part of a student project but has then grown to its full potential. The font is based on geometric shapes and has a vintage look. Her creations were made in tandem with Fontfabric.

The images in which the font is being used is very modern. It could work in advertising coffee shops and café’s. This font gives me a chance to analyse and develop my own understanding about it. I may need to search up alternative fonts as the history behind this font is very limited.

Jaapokki Research

Jaapokki was created by Finnish designer Mikko Nuuttila. He trusts in clever thinking, the latest technology, and collaborative effort, and aims to have fun while working on his own projects and studies.  He has also created a font called Rentukka which has personal diagritic marks.

The font is brilliant to stand out in posters, headlines and other documents. It’s a new font that has not yet been incorporated into big projects but it’s unique style makes it ideal for modern creations in print design. I know that I am going to use it in my future projects.

The enhance and subtract variations of the font give a very interesting look. They would be brilliant to be used in modern branding tasks. The bold lines and defined edges gives it its modern look that catches the eye very well.

This image of the wolf shows the impact of the text over Black and White. It has a very simple look but creates a big impact. The unique look of selected characters including the ‘W’ and ‘O’ make it very visually pleasing for the viewer.
